Give your brows some TLC this winter

Brows need the same TLC as hair and skin, and the latest addition to our bbrowbar range makes this a whole lot easier! The bbrowbar Conditioning Duo, Day & Night help to keep your brows nourished and healthy, even in the cold weather.

Jaimineey, our head Therapist and certified brow-guru explains HOW TO:

The Day cream has been formulated with both Shea and Cocoa butter which will moisturise, soften and condition your brows. This balm should be applied before make-up as part of your morning moisturising routine and will leave your brows ready for flawless make-up application.

The Night balm acts as a mask for your brows. With evening primrose oil known for its wonderful repairing properties, this balm also includes wheat germ oil high in anti-oxidants to prevent aging of the hair. This balm should be applied across the brow-bone before bed, allowing it to work its magic whilst you sleep.

Top tip: Use the bbrowbar tamer to blend and brush the balms through your brows. This will ensure that you’re coating every single hair with the wonderful nourishing formula.

Both day and night balms have been created using bbrowbar’s 3 signature ingredients:

Sweet almond known for its nourishing benefits.
Rosemary to stimulate hair growth.
Lavender and Sandalwood for their balancing properties and warm aroma.

LFW proves Bold Brows are here to stay

Strong brow game dominated the catwalks at NYFW and LFW last month.
Makeup artists from Christopher Kane, Burberry and Paul Smith all embraced the bold brow look, proving that it’s here to stay! Yay!

STEP 1: Use a brow tamer to brush hairs upwards in the same direction as hair growth.

STEP 2: Use a brow pen, the same shade as your natural hair colour to fill in any gaps or sparse areas. Light, short strokes can be used for a natural brow, or push harder to create greater impact.

STEP 3: Reach for that brow tamer again, and this time use to blend the colour and groom hairs back in to place.

STEP 4: Finish with a highlighter pencil to lift and illuminate your brow arch. Apply to the brow bone, following your natural arch to define the eye area. Then blend using the smudge sponge for a soft finish.

NYFW: The Beauty Trends

As New York Fashion Week draws to a close, we wanted to share with you our favourite beauty trend to come out of the shows; and while you have to wait six long months before you can get your hands on the fashion, the beauty looks are available right now!

The trends for Spring 2016 consisted of a multitude of different looks. There were subtle, bronzed faces donning one catwalk, with daring and colourful looks taking centre stage at the next. Our favourite I hear you ask?

Effortless beauty. Make-up artist focus was on creating a natural and healthy glow, with very subtle eye make-up, finishing with a bold and (dare we say it) slightly un-kept looking brow.

See below for our top looks:

HOW TO: Start with bbrowbar Brow Powder to build thickness, colour and texture. Use the bbrowbar Tamer to shape and fix any unruly hairs and to perfect your arch. Finally, complete the look with bbrowbar Brow Gel which defines and sets for a look that will last all day (and night!).

Come on gals, wear your brows with pride!

Hello Neelam Gill!

Today is a very exciting day at blinkbrowbar HQ as we have a huge announcement to make…

Neelam Gill, the all-British runway darling and long-standing blinkbrowbar fan has become our first official UK ambassador!

1829v2A (640x492) Resized for social

Neelam made her high fashion debut as the first Indian face of Burberry Prorsum’s SS14 campaign, walking exclusively in their show the same season. Her distinct look has catapulted her onto the world stage, breaking down the barriers for all different ethnicities and redefining the modelling world. In this year alone Neelam has walked for Kanye West’s AW15 collaboration with Adidas in Paris and has worked with some of the best photographers in the business such as Rankin, Steven Klein and Mario Testino. Impressive right?!

Wax Off For A Super Smooth Summer.

Whilst we are loving this season’s trend for all things 70s in the wardrobe department, when it comes to bikini lines and summer skin, we’re all about 2015 ladies and gents!

And whilst we also get that it’s not the most relaxing of treatments to have, we promise you that the quote ‘more painful than childbirth’ doesn’t apply here. Whilst resting within the discretion of our calming waxing treatment rooms, our super speedy, highly accurate therapists will have you in and out within 20 minutes with a lighter step and bikini ready.

blinkbrowbar Tip: New to waxing? A little scared? Don’t be. Start off with just the bikini line and each time you have a wax request to edge inwards if you prefer less hair-down-there. Before you know it you’ll be asking for the Hollywood without so much as a batter of those eyelids!

And the more you wax, the less painful it becomes. So try to keep to 3-4 week appointments for less hair and smoother skin in the long run.

And as for shaving, it really is best left for his beard. It can irritate your skin and leave cuts and nicks, which leave behind portals for bacteria to enter—a.k.a infection city! Shaving can also lead to hyper-pigmentation on the bikini line and underarms which can also toughen the skin- Stubble just doesn’t isn’t an attractive attribute!

View our waxing treatments below and get booked in for a premium, smoother and longer lasting finish.

  • Bikini (hot wax) £30

Fashion Week’s Biggest AW15 Trends

As Fashion Month draws to a close, Blink Brow Bar’s beauty buffs round up the best looks for AW15.

Bright Eyed & Bushy Browed.

An update on the still popular ‘Boy-Brow’ trend, this androgynous look was seen across a number of shows including Christopher Kane, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders and Gucci. Brows were full, flat and boyish with a feral look brushed up using a tamer. Grooming was kept to a minimum, set in place with a gel to create a bushy finish.

NARS-Christopher-Kane-AW15-Beauty-Look-1-800x578 Gucci

Glossy, fresh and clean, groomed brows were given a preppy innocence with a soft arch. Seen at Hugo Boss, Narciso Rodriguez and Micheal Kors, a brow pencil was used to gentle create definition in a perfect colour match. A gel (try bbrowbar Gel) was swept across towards the tail-end of the brow keeping brows in check, giving the look a touch of gloss to match the model’s flawless ad youthful  complexions.

wel groomed

Beige Brow

In keeping with the beauty trend for using rich and neutral tones, colour-match or lightened brows added a care-free vibe to otherwise groomed and glamorous beauty looks. Versace, Moschino and Phillip Lim sent their girls down the cat-walk with a full silhouetted brow in subtle tones of camel, beige and blonde.  To get the look book in for a bespoke lightening treatment to match your hair and skin tone- Try blinkbrowbar’s Sunkissed Brows treatment.

Smokey Neutrals

This season the timeless, smokey eye took it’s style notes from the 90s, using an earth-toned, grungey palette. Burberry and Diane Von Furstenberg created a soft, smokey look with matte tones of brown and charcoal powder. Try bbrowbar Brow Powder, blending along the lash line and into the socket crease for a sultry and soft finish.

The Oscars 2015- Beauty Winners

The Oscars is one of our favourite red carpet events to gain beauty inspiration from (as well as the gossip) and the 87th Academy Awards didn’t disappoint.  From Margo Robbie’s on-point brows, to Emma Robert’s stunning custom Elie Saab gown here are our favourite Oscar 2015 moments:

Emma Stone Glistens in Elie Saab.
Let’s start with our most favourite look on the red carpet from last night. Emma Stone’s fashion risk-taking always pays off, so it’s no surprise that she stunned once again at last night’s Oscars in a custom made Elie Saab gown. The redheaded actress looks ravishing in the floor length lime gown, adorned with intricate beadwork that was contrasted beautifully with a bold and contemporary lip that added a pop of fun with this ladylike look.

Emma Stone

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Birdman,” but pipped to the post by the amazing Patricia Arquette for her role in “Boyhood” Stone’s star is nevertheless rising- On screen and in the style stakes.

Julianne Moore in Classic Chanel

The winner of The Best Actress Award at last night’s Oscars wore a truly unique custom Chanel gown, absolutely dripping in white sequins and accented with rows of white and black sequin rosettes.

The actress’ powerful portrayal of an Alzheimer’s sufferer in Still Alice wins after missing out on an acting Oscar four times previously. She beat out competition from Reese Witherspoon, Rosamund Pike, Marion Cotillard and Felicity Jones.

A low, sleek chignon and shimmering eyeshadow was teamed with natural looking brows and contrasted with bright marsala-hued lips and her signature ageless skin. Julianne looked like the Hollywood icon that she is.

Margot Robbie Channels 70s Glamour

Although the Aussie actress didn’t get a nomination this year, she certainly stood out on the red carpet in a beautiful 70s inspired gown from YSL. Teamed with a $1.5M Van Cleef & Arpels ‘zipper’ necklace, the 24 year old who’d been dubbed ‘the next Marilyn Monroe’ oozed glamour.

We adore The Wolf of Wall Street’s sleek blonde bob, teamed with a classic tomato red lip and perfectly groomed brows. Robbie owned one of the best beauty looks on the red carpet last night.

Dakota Johnson Cuts A Clean Silhouette

The 50 Shades of Grey star keep her silhouette clean in a stunning Saint Laurent dress, wearing her hair in a simple pony tail. The actress teamed her super-hot  gown with an bright red lip, accentuating her bee-stung lips and flawless complexion. Brows were bold but with a natural shape, with grooming not over done but enough to accentuate the 50 Shades star’s aqua eyes.

The actress who’s newly single brought her mum; Melanie Griffith as her plus one. The pair posed on the red carpet like the perfect Mother-daughter team. That is, until things got a little awks when Griffiths was asked if she’s seen her daughter’s latest film. Watch and cringe for yourself HERE.

Kiera Knightly

She missed out on the Best Supporting Actress prize at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday night but The Imitation Game actress Keira Knightley handled her defeat to Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) beautifully in a stunning, hand-crafted Valentino gown. Glowing on the red carpet, the pregnant British actress showed how to dress a bump and what better way than in Valentino?

The elegant dress skimmed over Keira’s growing baby bump and flattered her porcelain complexion. The star’s beauty look was classic english rose with a contemporary edge. Full brows with a beautiful arch framed the beauty’s features, accentuating those famous cheekbones and sensuous pout to perfection.

New York Fashion Week’s Top Beauty Looks.

As New York takes it’s turn in hosting fashion week, the AW15 looks are cemented by the world’s leading visionaries. Blink Brow Bar report on their top inspirations from New York Fashion Week 2015.

Victoria Beckham

victoria Beckham AW15

Make-up guru Pat McGrath was responsible for the Victoria Beckham model’s edgy and paired down look. Brows was fleshed out and given a bolder depth, keeping the shape natural and subtle. Arches were low for a boyish finish. Smokey, slept in eyes were prettied up with a pastel rose lip and complexions were matte, contemporary and flawless.

A feral brow was seen at TIBI balancing out the otherwise classic and preppy beauty look. To achieve these bushed up brows, use a tamer to brush up the front of the brow and then smooth out the rest of the eyebrow shape. Intensify the tone with a matte brow powder to add a polished finish.

Nicole Miller

The American designer’s rich, evening focused collection was accessorised with a youthful and spontaneous beauty look. A mix of bronze and smoky tones were used to create a cat-eyed silhouette. We love the emerald nails– Another look we’re totally stealing for this season.

Tome: created by Ramon Martin who was previous director of Derek Lam, goes for a clean graphic look for AW15. Nars kept skin looking hydrated and fresh and brows were strong, thick and (almost) left to their own devises aside a little grooming. This clean look was given a cute edge with curled lashes.

Alexander Wang

NARS-Alexander-Wang-AW15-Beauty-Look-1-500x778Messed up surfer chic hair was contrasted with a paler than pale complexion with an almost gothic vibe. Brows are as bold has they come, adding a dramatic rock and roll vibe to the collection.

Bafta Beauties- Our Favourite Looks

From perfectly coiffed up-dos to long statement tresses, smokey eyes to bold lip hues; our hottest hair and makeup favourites that graced the red carpet at last night’s BAFTAs 2015.

Kiera Knightley

Kiera Knightley looked positively glowing last night. This au naturel side-swept look with barely-there make-up is another winner for the mum-to-be. Bold, youthful brows are kept natural and not too groomed, held in place with a little gel, with definition kept mainly at the tail-end of the brow-shape.

Rosamund Pike

Playing excellent red carpet services to the bob, the Gone Girl star makes us want to haul ourselves to the hairdressers and get one cut in, pronto. Her natural-looking, classic make-up is kept contemporary with a strong, bold brow.

Noomi Rapace

Swedish actress Noomi goes for a striking red carpet look with a sleek up-do, bringing it bang up-to-date to SS15 with thick fluttery lashes and a hot orange lip colour. And we LOVE those earrings.

Monica Bellucci

With her trademark chestnut locks hanging centre-parted around her shoulders, the gorgeous Monica Bellucci kept her beauty look parred-down, and with bone structure like that it’s easy to see why. The Italian beauty ages gracefully, demonstrating why it’s paramount to keep your arches in check for maturing gorgeously.

Alma Jodorowsky

The Blue Is The Warmest Cover star shoes that you  can’t beat a classic chilli red lip hue-all year round. Big bouncy curls give red carpet success, and as Alma Jodorowsky proves, big brows are always beautiful.

Which red carpet will you be channeling this weekend?

Get The Look- Kendall Jenner

It maybe a look that was created for SS15, but Dolce and Gabbana’s collection at this year’s Milan Fashion Week has inspired us to get ahead this autumn and team our bold brows with a deep, berry lip. Kendal Jenner; who closed the show for the Italian designers looked stunning, so we’re moving away from our fail-safe favourite red and opting for a berry lip to warm things up instead.

Get The Look

Make-up artist, Pat McGrath kept skin flawless but real with a satin finish and a suble wash of of colour on the cheek. Prep skin with B Rose Day Cream to hydrate and prevent skin soaking up your base for a smooth and long lasting base.

A Kajal kohl liner on the upper and lower lash line was applied, building up the thickness at the out corners of the eyes to create a feline shape.

Brush brows up and out to make the most of your natural thickness and shape, then fill in and thicken up as and where desired with B Brow Pen in Indian Chocolate or Cinnamon Spice, making sure to define the outer tail of the brow to keep the look clean.

IC Brow Pen2

Give your brows another brush to ensure you’re happy with the finished shape with a tamer, then fix and gloss with our B Brow Gel for a groomed look.

To plump up your lips, apply a classic cream based lipstick with a lip brush and then layer over a darker matte lipstick onto just the centre, using a fine-tipped brush to define your Cupid’s bow. We love Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick in Nocturnal.

Horror Movie Heroines

As halloween fast approaches and talk of what we’re all dressing up as this weekend is the main buzz at Blink, we take at look back out our top favourite horror heroines.

Fairuza Balk in The Craft:
90s girl power at it’s very best. Played by Fairuza Balk, school mis-fit Nancy Downs leads a outcast group of girls to a life of witch-craft and sorcery to make their seeming innocent wishes come true. Living in a trailer park with her mother, Downs becomes obsessed and greedy with power and as her personality turns darker, so does her make-up and wardrobe. To nail the Nancy look this Halloween, of even just rocking a blood red lip this winter then a ensure your eyebrows are bold to balance out a strong lip. Our B Brow Powder can give you a strong and bold look, whilst NARS Audacious Lipstick in Carmen screams ‘goth-glam’.

NancyDownsThe Craft

Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice
In 1988, Tim Burton cast a young Winona Ryder as morose loner with a love for bad fringes; Lydia Deetz. In this black comedy/horror classic. Lydia; an outsider in her own family, befriends and saves the Maitelands, the deceased residents of her home. Ebony hair, a snowy white complexion and layers of heavy kohl eye make up are the staples of Lydia’s gothic style. Channel this iconic look with our B Black Intense Kajal Eyeliner and smudge underneath the eye with the smudger for a truly dark and beautifully tortured look- Johnny would approve, we recon.

Winona Ryder (as Lydia Deetz)

Janet Leigh in Psycho
When Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) rocks up at the Bates Motel, she’s no wide-eyed innocent – she’s a thief who robbed $40,000 from her employer in order to elope with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, she didn’t get that far but made one of the most classic and iconic horror scenes to date, making showering that little bit scarier. Team prim, secretarial attire with groomed, thick and arched brows for a classic ‘Hitchcock Heroine’ look.

Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby
This late 60s horror not only won an oscar, but led legions of women to transform their tresses into chic pixie crops, channelling Mia Farrow’s tortured character, Rosemary Woodhouse. Farrow plays a pregnant woman who fears that her husband may have made a pact with their eccentric neighbors, believing he promised them the child to be used as a human sacrifice in their occult rituals. Sounds pretty mental huh?! And a great fancy dress option if you’d rather play the innocent! Use our B Brow Definer in Cinnamon Spice to channel golden blonde brows and use again to randomly dot freckles across your nose for Woodhouses’ ‘butter-wouldn’t-melt’ look.

Brow-Crush- Kiernan Shipka

Is it just us, or did everyone else still have Mad Men actress, Kiernan Shipka down as about 7 years old? Ok, she still is only 13 years old, but already has our attention with her peaches and cream complexion and naturally dark, contrasting brows.

It was season seven of Mad Men, when we first noticed: Sally Draper (aka, Kiernan Shipka) has the best bold eyebrows. We’re not sure exactly when Sally’s enviable arches sprouted, but her strong brow-shape pops beautifully against her honey blonde locks, making her huge brown eyes pop.

Sally Draper- As she lives in our heads- Before we saw the above AMAZING shot!

Plus, in real life, Kiernan changes them up for the red carpet by toying with the brushed-up brow trend.. . . . Watch out Cara Delevingne, we see some eyebrow competition coming!

Tint your brows a shade darker than your natural hair colour. Or two shades if you’re feeling brave and bold.

Keep brows as thick as possible. The whole charm of Kiernan’s beauty look is letting nature doing it’s thang in the eyebrow department. A subtle threading session to shape up and rid of any strays will suffice.

Fill in any gaps with B Brow Powder, to keep things strong and solid. Watch our video to get tips on how to apply.

Brush up and out with a brow gel to ensure hairs stay put and groomed.

How to Get This Season’s Now-Brow

This season brows are bold, thick and luscious. Groomed but natural in shape, It’s all about the power-brow. Owning a straighter, more understated finish, brows are boyish and squared-out mirroring one of this season’s key trends of masculine-meets-feminine.
Here’s how to get the look with B The Eyebrow Experts:

Brush out your brows with the B Tamer to create a clean and groomed base to really see the natural shape of your eyebrows and arches.
The secret to achieving this bold but natural look is by starting the application at the centre of your brows with a powder to create a strong but soft texture. Apply B Brow Powder, moving outwards towards the brow tail using small, light strokes for a natural and even application.

Work with the shape you’ve got! Unless you’ve over-plucked in the past, nature will have created the best eyebrow shape for you, so keep to your natural shape, only playing down over-accented, or over-plucked arches by filling in the gaps using the Brow Powder.
Choose a colour that matches, or one that is just slightly darker than your hair colour. Take the powder outwards, being careful not to take the tail shape downwards as this can cause your eye area to look droopy.

Brush up and fill in any sparse hairs at the front of the brows with the excess powder on the
wand, being careful not to over-do it to keep things natural looking.
Screen Shot 2014-10-06 at 17.37.08

TIP- If you prefer a sharp tail, then B Brow Pen will give super definition and a colour that won’t
budge. Ensure that you keep the tail-end horizontal to achieve this boyish look.

Cara Gets A Brow-Make-Over at Givenchy

Over the weekend it was the Givenchy show during Paris Fashion Week. Going against the trend-grain of bold brows, Creative Director, Riccardo Tisci sent some of the biggest faces in fashion down the catwalk with bleached eyebrows.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath bleached Cara Delevingne’s iconic eyebrows to near nonexistence, completely transforming the British model’s look.

As you can see, taking Miss Delevingne’s brows away, completely transformed the model’s look, proving that investing time and attention to your brow shape really does make all the difference.

As well as Cara, Pat McGrath bleached up Kendall Jenner, Edie Campbell, and Natasha Poly.

Edie Campbell

Kendall Jenner

It’s not the first time Kendall has had her brows-bleached in the name of fashion. Last season she had bleached brows for Givenchy and Marc Jacobs AW14, and for Teen Vogue earlier this summer.

The model said; “This is the sixth time since February!” she told the U publication. “I might have to start saying no at some point, because I’m getting worried they’re going to fall out!”.

Yeah, maybe give it a rest after the shows Kendall. We have to say though, she does pull off the zero-brow look pretty well! And as for Cara, keep those brows!

What do you think? Would you give this beauty trend a trial? If you do fancy going lighter, then book in with us for our Blink Eyebrow Lightening & Brow Colour Matching treatment. We can mix up the perfect colour bespoke to your needs to give you the best results.

Emma Watson Rallys #HeForShe

Speaking at the launch of the #HeforShe campaign after recently becoming the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson this week called on men and women alike to come together and tackle gender equality. The Blink Brow regular and Harry Potter star said:

“Men—I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation,” she said. “Gender equality is your issue too.”

The British actress spoke about how feminist has become an unpopular, divisive word and how we need to all unite in order to solve gender inequality.

“Fighting for women’s rights has too often been synonymous with “man hating,” she said to the audience. “Apparently I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, aggressive, anti-men and unattractive. Why has the word become such an uncomfortable one?”

Referencing to particular stages in her life where she had personally experienced gender-based assumptions and discrimination, the actresses experiences below hit home with the team at Blink who could all relate to her one way or another with these situations:

“When I was eight I was confused at being called “bossy” because I wanted to direct the plays we would put on for our parents, but the boys were not,” she told the audience. “When at 14 I started to be sexualised by certain aspects of the media. When at 15 my girlfriends started dropping out of their sports teams because they didn’t want to appear ‘muscly’. When at 18 my male friends were unable to express their feelings.”

We’re so proud to have Emma represent Britain leading and championing such an important and undervalued issue.

Emma, we salute you. Great brows, kick-arse speech.

SS15 Beauty Trend Report

Both on and off the catwalk this season, Blink have been lusting after the SS15 Fashion Week offerings. Folk-inspired floral embroidery at Holly Fulton, transparent silks, organza and crochet at Bora Asku and Marchesa’s Gypsie/Woodstock inspired gowns were to die for- And that’s just at the shows! Street style-pros didn’t disappoint, with the weird, wonderful and super- stylish showcasing their looks at various LFW hang-outs as well as the FROW residents demonstrating the reason why they nabbed a golden ticket to the hottest shows this side of Christmas.

Whilst London Fashion Week is still in full swing, we’ve been digesting what our friends across the pond offered up in terms of beauty trends. Trust New York to keep things clean, but we think you could definitely give these looks a British twist- Give the liner a softer look with a smudge and amp up the lip colour for a touch of winter warmth, before paring back when the sun starts to come out again next year. We know, the sun’s not quite gone in yet, but what better way to make dusting off the 80 deniers less depressing than to give your beauty-look an autumn/winter revamp using next summer’s key looks?!

Total English Rose, we love the natural boyish brow and pretty lip combo at Victoria Beckham.

VB’s collections keep going from strength to strength as she uses her British heritage with pared down, clean beauty. A dusting of B Brow Powder and a slick of B Brow Gel will help to achieve these youthful, preppy brows.

kohl infused cat-eyes with lighter brows and a 70s inspired center parting- One that we'll definitely be channeling this autumn.

Kohl infused cat-eyes with lighter brows and a 70s inspired center parting- One that we’ll definitely be channeling this autumn.

The MUAs at Tommy Hilfiger kept things all-American, but with a hint of British rock-chick in there we can’t help see our very own Kate Moss as inspiration for this look. A strong but light eyebrow, with sexy, smokey eyes is a fail-safe look to plump for this season coming. Keep brows in check with our new B Brow Definer and B Tamer and define eyes with B Intense Kajal Eyeliner, using the handy smudging tool at the end to give eyes a soft-focused finish.

Cinnamon Spice Brow Definer

B Cinnamon Spice Brow Definer

Orange is the new black it seems at Peter Som and we love the flash of neon contrasted with a pared back complexion and simple, slicked back hair. Note that the slicked back hair-line is a strong trend coming through from this season into next year. Less time on hair in the morning, more time in bed!

Neon liner and a smile. We love!

Neon liner and a smile. We love!

Top knots are back! (Were they ever gone?!) Marc Jacobs goes back to his game-changing 1992 collection for Perry Ellis for inspiration this season with his iconic grunge contrasting with flawlessly velvet skin. Naturally beautiful and of course unconventional- It is Mr Jacobs after all, models were given a nearly nude face that still looked groomed. Eyebrows really keep things framed here. Go for bold toned brows to achieve this look and either tint or darken your natural brow colour to frame eyes and define bone structure. Keep the silhouette natural though!

Models were sent down sans slap at Marc Jacobs- Or at least it seems...

Define and Build With B The Eyebrow Experts’ Latest Brow Offering

Whether you want to keep things lowbrow, full browed or quite frankly you’re looking a little ‘no-brow’, Blink’s innovative B Brow Pen needs be your go-to beauty tool

Launched last month, our fine tipped pen allows you to create, shape and build up your brows with natural results.

Our latest addition to B The Eyebrow Expert’s beauty bounty, we thought that a little guidance would be helpful in using our newest recruit to it’s full potential.

1.First things first, brush your brows through with a tamer to ensure you’ve got a clean and
groomed eyebrow to work with.

B Brow Tamer

2. Start at the arch, rather than the beginning of your brow start to apply your chosen B Brow Pen (there are 2 colours)- This is really important if you want a natural looking brow. Using an ultra gentle motion, create light, hair-like strokes and gradually build up to the desired effect.

B Brow Pen

3. Then, if your brows are really sparse at the front work at the start of the brow using feather like strokes to ensure a really natural effect.
4. For a stronger and darker eyebrow silhouette, blend the pen into the skin and hairs until the pen dries so that the pen strokes blend in naturally with your own eyebrows.

5. Finish and set with B Brow Gel to ensure brow hairs stay put for a groomed and glossy finish.
You can chose from Clear, Cinnamon Spice, Indian Chocolate and Cardamom Pod.

Don’t worry! The colour of our B Pen might initially appear reddish as you start applying.  However, this will subside as the pen dries into it’s natural colour.

Quick Top Tips For Thicker Brows.

Overplucked? Use a brow regrowth serum with active ingredients, not just moisturisers. Blink’s own B The Eyebrow Experts Nourishing Brow Oil (£16.00) is a mix of growth inducing ingredients including sweet almond oil to nourish and rosemary oil to stimulate hair growth.

Have your brows shaped regularly by a professional- That would be us! Even if you’re growing them in, like when you’re growing your hair, your eyebrows need to be managed to ensure they grow. Ask your Blink Brow Bar Technician to advise which areas need to be grown in, and which ones need to be reshaped- They’ll do the rest!

Jason Wu AW14

                                  Jason Wu AW14

Use B The Eyebrow Experts Brow Powder to fill in patchy areas. The powder sits on the skin behind the hair, giving the illusion of denser brows. Choose a powder designed especially for brows, not a powder eyeshadow.

Brow Powder

The tail of your eyebrow should extend at least to the corner of your eye, and can be even longer as long as it doesn’t end vertically lower than the point where your brow begins — you want a lifted shape, not a droopy one.

Diary of a Blink Bride-To-Be

With little over 3 months to go before my ‘Big Day’ it’s dawned on me that I’m going to be on show and papped from every possible angle- So I better look my best. Luckily I work at Blink, the messiah’s of eyebrows and fountain of knowledge when it comes to getting perfectly prepped for your wedding day.

I’ll be putting Blink’s treatments, advice and products into play over the next few months so that you can see exactly what to expect from your visit to Blink Brow Bar and what effects and results you can achieve from B The Eyebrow Expert’s cosmetic collection.

Blink Brow Bar Threading

Growing up in the 90s, I was one of the lucky few at my school not to have over plucked their eyebrows, or get their belly button pierced. I can’t take any credit for these decisions though. The non-pluckage was purely because I couldn’t actually see my brows to get tweezer-happy (I’m VERY fair, you see) and swerving the navel puncture was because I was too scared of what my mum would say. With this in mind, my eyebrows aren’t a bad canvas to start with, but with Blink’s expert therapists on hand, they can most definitely reach their potential.

Blink Brow Bar offers a  whole host of options to make the most of the eyebrow and with a bolder, more natural shape being back in the frame, it really is a must have treatment for brides-to-be. Your eyebrows have the potential to frame and make the most of your face shape and features, as well instantly take years off your face- So think of the wedding snaps and read on…

I’ve been getting away with just a few strokes of an eyebrow pencil for a little shape, random tweezing and that’s about it; so getting some up to date education in the brow department from Blink was long overdue.

Threading is something that I’ve been meaning to try, but just never got around to booking in (read; I’m too scared – What if it really hurts?!) but I can’t really wiggle out of the challenge now I’m a Blink Girl now, can I?!

The Blink Mission is ‘that we strive to make life easier for women. 15 minutes in a Blink chair and you will leave feeling fabulous’. I was ready to take the test to see if the pioneers of the revolutionary ‘brow-bar’ concept could transform my brows from wash-out lame, to fabulous in just 15 minutes.

Arriving at the wondrous smelling Blink Bar within Selfridges’ Beauty Hall (I later find out that it’s Blink’s divine Indian Rose Candle) I’m greeted by Kinnari who will be transforming my eyebrows for the next few months in the lead up to my wedding. A true expert in all things brow and beyond, Kinnari has 7 years’ experience in threading alone, so I began to relax as I took a plush seat in the laid back Blink Brow Bar, ready for my consultation.

IndianRoseCandel 005

When I say my eyebrows are fair, I’m talking teetering on white. So, Kinnari took one look at my brows and gently suggested a tint to take them a couple of shades away from their current state of practically transparent – I readily agreed.

Applying a balm around my brows to protect my skin, Kinnari applies a warm brown dye for just 30 seconds, capturing the teeny white hairs that will be threaded to ensure that a clean line is created, thus the Chaplin-esque brows, below.

Wiping it off, my brows are revealed in the form of a very natural colour that suits my hair and skin tone perfectly.

tintCara’s got nothing on me.

Now for the shaping. Kinnari assesses my face shape and bone structure, explaining that everyone’s eyebrows are naturally formed to fit with what we’re born with on the face-front. Tactically telling me that whilst I’ll never own Cara’s full-on bushy brows, if I stop with the sporadic and random tweezing sessions and let the patchy areas grow-out, then with the help of Blink’s skilful team I will be the owner of thicker, more defined and symmetrical brows. Kinnari starts by threading the underline of my outer brow area to pull-out my natural arch which will widen my temple area and give shape to my oval face. Asking me to pull my skin taut, the threading begins- And it’s really not painful at all! Even with my sensitive skin it’s far less so than plucking and super speedy too.

3 minutes of skilful threading and trimming, my brows have been taken from barely there and ‘meh’, to face-shaping and fabulous. To sooth the small amount of post-threading redness, Blink’s Pure Rose Water Gel is applied whilst I’m treated to a soothing Ayurvedic mini massage.

Kinnari then pencils in any bald patches with Blink Eyebrow Pencil in Cinnamon Spice, brushing them through with Blink’s nourishing Eyebrow Gel in Clear to finish. Kinnari arms me with some vital after-care tips and strict instructions to stay away from the tweezers and let my brows grow until my next visit in 4 weeks.

Sofia Coppola Champions Cannes Chic.

Sofia Coppola - - style icon22

Daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, screenwriter, director and producer, Coppola was born in 1971 and raised in New York. Being the off spring of the director of Apocalypse Now and cousin to Nic Cage and Jason Schwartzman, Coppola wouldn’t have made a very good shrinking violet.

Coppola is one of only four women to nab an Oscar nomination for Best Director. Known for casting child stars and directing them in parts to see them become bonafide stars of the big screen, Coppola has previously cast BLINK Girl Emma Watson, the Fanning sisters and Kirsten Dunst. Her popularity saw it’s peak with Lost In Translation, epitomising Coppola’s brand of effortless indie cool.

Blink loves Coppola’s laid-back look and hard to define beauty. Her bee-stung lips and bold, arched brows are given an effortless edge with her beach-styled locks and simply-silhouetted wardrobe.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival see’s the modern day icon juror at the globally heralded event and with her easy going but groomed look, we predict her red-carpet looks to be championed.

The key to achieving Sofia Coppola’s effortlessly cool beauty look is to keep your eyebrow shape natural and not too sharp. Work with your natural brow shape, only extending the outer point and filling in any gaps only if necessary. A brushed out brow will help to achieve a fuller finish, so B The Eyebrow Experts Gel should be brushed up and through your brows after you’ve filled things out with our B The Eyebrow Experts Pencil or B The Eyebrow Experts Powder tools. If you’ve over plucked and your brows simply don’t have that much ‘bush’ then Blink’s Build A Brow Service at Fenwick is a must-have treatment for you to check out. Book now to have your brow line filled out with our innovative eyebrow hair extension and shaping services.

Watch Lupita Nyong’o And Elle Fanning
Go Techno In High Octane Miu Miu

It’s techno-meets-Hollywood this season as Miu Miu launched one of THE coolest campaign films around this season. Not only do they have Lupita Nyong’o starring, but Prada’s little sis also has Elizabeth Olsen, Elle Fanning and Bella Heathcote modelling this season’s collection.

Whilst we don’t expect anything less from the pash-pack leaders of cool, Miu Miu have surpassed themselves with this hyperactive whirl of colour and print, directed by globally celebrated fashion photographer duo; Inez and Vinoodh. Watch the girls wink, cackle and huddle in the corner (we’re not quite sure about the corner-cuddling) in bright florals and rainbow tights.

We have serious bag envy.

What do you think?

August Specials

Summer time and the living’s easy. If you’re not staying in town you may be prepping for an upcoming holiday. So to give you a little something special this summer, we have several offers that you’re sure to love.

And, we’re also looking for a few talented eyebrow and lash technicians to join our Blink team. If interested, please email

Happy Summer!

It’s a Prince!

From everyone at the Blink team, a huge congrats to William and Kate on the birth of their beautiful baby boy.

Kate looked stunning as she stepped out of St Mary’s Hospital yesterday to debut her son to the world’s media. The Duchess had her personal hair-stylist come in to give her a blow-dry, and wore custom Jenny Packham for the photo-op and brief interview. We just have to say, we do love her brows!

We can’t wait to hear what the new prince is going to be called…

Beautiful Bridal Brows… and Lashes!

We absolutely love getting brides ready for their special day, and we thought we would share a few tips to make sure you lovely ladies can take full advantage of our services before you walk down the aisle! To get your brows and lashes looking their absolute best, here are a few tips:

Book a trial. If you are going to be doing anything different to your brows for your wedding, we recommend coming in for a trial first. For example, if you’ve never tinted before you should test out how dark you want to go. Or, if you’ve never had your eyebrows threaded, our expert therapists can perform patch tests to make sure your skin won’t have any reaction that would still be lingering for your bridal debut!

Try our Rose FacialThis is perfect for the super busy bride. Our Rose Facial is only 20 minutes but offers your skin a complete exfoliation, and will cool your skin while also completely moisturising it. This express facial even combats the signs of aging with our B moisturising rose day cream. We recommend coming in around two weeks before your wedding for this treatment.

Choose the right lashes. We have a variety of lash options for our brides. Our cluster lashes are great, but we recommend trying them first as sometimes they take a little getting used to if you have never had extensions before. We recommend our Flirty Lashes which look completely natural but will give your eyelashes extra length and volume! If you want something that will last through your honeymoon try our semi-permanent lashes, which also look totally natural, but long and luscious at the same time.

Don’t forget about our special packages. We offer the following special pricing for all of our Blink brides!

Congrats to all of our summer brides. Make sure to tweet us your #bridalbrows to @blinkbrowbar!

Spotlight On: Eyebrow Pencils

Our Blink therapists are experts at giving your brows the best shape they can possibly have, but when it comes to extra definition, length, and giving your brows that coveted boldness every lady needs a great eyebrow pencil.

There are a lot of eyebrow pencils out there, our pencils are special. They are waxed-based which means they won’t smudge after application and will last all day and night long!

Our pencils also include a brush at one end so it is easy to blend into your brows, and they come in five different colours , so there’s a perfect shade for everyone. When visiting one of our brow bars, you can ask your therapist to help you choose the right shade, whether it’s Mysore Sandalwood, Cinnamon Spice, Indian Chocolate, Jasmine Morga or Cardamom Pod.

A selection of our treatments, including our bold-brow service, even comes with a pencil which is selected by one of our experts for you.

Blink Loves Dads.

This Fathers Day is a great chance for the dad in your life to experience our treatments for the first time. If you thought eyebrow threading was just for ladies, then think again! More and more men are recognizing the change that a little eyebrow tidy-up makes to their whole entire face and appearance.

At Blink, we believe that the sculpting should be reserved for the women, but our male clients see a big difference when they have our “Tidy and Trim” service. Additionally, we can also just clean up the space between the brows, or even tint his brows with our “Eyebrow Groom” which also includes a brow massage.

For those of you that want to give an extra special treat this Fathers Day, why not gift him with our “Eye Soother” treatment, a refreshing massage for tired eyes, OR a full head, neck and shoulder massage.

For our Canary Wharf Dad’s we even have a “Stress Buster” treatment which is aimed at all those men who spend way too many late nights in the office. This consists of a longer and more intense massage, and is a perfect opportunity to have a little rest and relaxation in the middle of a hectic work day.

Happy Fathers Day from all of us at Blink!

We love keeping an eye on the catwalk, and the Autumn/Winter 2013 runway was all about real girl beauty. Designers such as Christopher Kane, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein and Isabel Marant have all championed the “au natural” look, especially with eyebrows.

In keeping with the trend, Blink will offer a NEW “Super-Natural” service for £35.00. Here’s what the hot new treatment includes…

The Shape:

The key to this popular look is creating and maintaining a defined, but not unnatural, arch with an expert Blink brow shape. Expert technicians work with the natural shape, creating the perfect brow for one’s face.

The Shade:

The next step is perfectly-hued brows; the right shade not only accentuates perfect arches but completely transforms your overall look. Tints are mixed to give a multi-dimensional look that adds a slight gloss to one’s brow and the options are endless giving an overall youthful and natural look. Blink’s specially trained therapists are able to mix natural tones enabling them to get a perfect match to one’s hair colour.

The Maintenance:

To help maintain this on-trend, ‘no maintenance’ look, Blink are including their best-selling B Brow Gel in Clear as part of the new ‘Super-Natural’ service.  Containing Vitamin B5, the gel also nourishes brows and encourages growth for the ultimate ‘Super-Natural’ brow.

To shade your brows at home you can lightly sketch in individual hairs using a sharpened B Brow Pencil (£13.00) (ensure that the shade matches natural colouring exactly), building up shape and density as you go. (Pencil is not included in the service.)

Let us know what you think of your new “Super-Natural” brow-look by tweeting us @BlinkBrowBar using #SuperNaturalBrows.

Get Blinked for Prom

There are a few US traditions that we have adopted in the UK which we love. One of those is prom. It’s the first time to buy a beautiful party dress, borrow your older sister’s jewellery, and cross your fingers that the guy you have your eye on asks you to that all important dance.

And because we know you want to look perfect on your big night out, our brow bars offer a variety of services to help you get prepped for prom! In addition to the essential eyebrow shape,  you can also have eyelash extensions in a variety of lengths and styles. Whether you want a simple strip, or individual extensions, we do it all!  It’s the perfect little extra to add to your prom make-up.

Sarah Hyland from Modern Family poses for ASOS’s prom dress line

Don’t forget your nails! A selection of our locations offer manicures, and we even have a quick and purse-friendly “polish and go” treatment for those of you who want to be able to splurge on your prom shoes.

And there’s more!  If you visit us in Topshop (Oxford Street), and bring a valid student ID, you will receive 10% off your brow services.

**And for your lovely New Yorkers, you can visit us in Henri Bendel for prom-perfect brows.

Emma Watson Gets Blinked For Cannes

We love this time of year. Right after we’ve recovered from all the beautiful couture at the Met Ball, we have the Cannes red carpet. It is THE place for starlets from around the world to strike a pose for international press.

We can’t help but focus on Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan and of course Cara Delevigne’s gorgeous brows these past few nights.

Emma Watson looks absolutely radiant for the premiere of The Bling Ring. Her bold brows are perfectly penciled. Emma is actually a huge fan of Blink and was our location in Henri Bendel, in New York City, getting her brows prepped for the film festival.

We just can’t get enough of Carey Mulligan. She is this movie-season’s IT girl, and we have a brow-crush on her perfect arch. Carey looked stunning at the Great Gatsby premiere. We can’t wait to see her new film. For more see our blog post on Carey Mulligan’s Gatsby-perfect brows.

Cara Delevigne has received as much press for her brows and her gorgeous figure. She worked the Cannes red carpet opening ceremony and reminded us why we fell in love with bold brows in the first place. If you’re thinking about using one of our pencils, gels, or tinting your brows a shade darker, then go for it. And if you have any doubts think of Cara.

Summer Beach Essentials

Everyone is buzzing about getting out of town and spending time by the sea and in the sun. We hope that you get a chance to go-away, and if you do, here are some of our favourite summer essentials that you should definitely have in your beach-bag!

This adorable Mara Hoffman rainbow printed bikini is a must-buy this summer. The ruffled overlay of the top is super cute, and will give you a little extra coverage if you need it. Available at Net-A-Porter.

Go retro with these Cutler and Gross Round-frame acetate sunglasses. The oversized shape are totally glam, and the berry-colour will give your look a pop of colour. Also available at Net-A-Porter.

Our Pure Rose Water Gel is the perfect summer moisturiser. It has Rose and Aloe Vera so it is cooling if you have a slight sunburn, while the Plum Seed Oil heals, nourishes and refreshes your skin.

Sunscreen is a MUST to prevent aging. We love Garnier Ambire Solaire which is moisturizing and lasts for 12 hours. It’s also easy to apply- just spray away! Available at Boots.

Throw this floppy straw hat by Helen Kaminski to protect your face from the late afternoon rays. We love the crocheted details and the size is adjustable. Available at Selfridges.

We love a good day to night sandal for the summer, and this Sam Edelman has it all. There’s leather, sparkle, and even a little metallic heel. Love.

Do you have a summer beach essential we missed? Tell us in a comment below! Or tweet us @blinkbrowbar.

Wedding Day Make-Up

Wedding season is upon us, which means that whether you are the bride-to-be or just a guest, it’s time to decide how to nail your wedding-day look. More and more brides are opting to do their own make-up. Even Kate Middleton applied her own for her big day.

So if you go the do-it-yourself-route, here are a few of our wedding day make-up tips.

(1) Go natural. Your groom should be able to recognize you without having to peer through war-paint. Your lips should be just a few shades darker than your natural shade, and keep your eye make up simple with light shades of browns and nudes.

(2) Use concealer on your eyelids before applying any eyeshadow. This will ensure that you can not see any lines or veins in your gorgeous photos.

(3) Use translucent powder to avoid shine. We love Laura Mercier’s. If you are really oily, you should also bring blotting powder in your purse- or have one of your bridesmaids carry it for you.

(4) Avoid runny mascara for those teary moments by applying our Blink strip lashes. You’ll be able to completely forgo mascara, but your lashes will look long and luscious. If you’re not used to wearing false lashes, then our mascara is completely waterproof, and easy to remove.

(5) Visit one of our brow bars before your big event and ask one of our expert therapists to help you choose your perfect brow pencil which will naturally enhance your perfectly arched brows.

And above all… enjoy every special minute!

Carey Mulligan’s Gatsby-perfect brows!

Everyone is going ga-ga over Gatsby! The film is set to release in the UK on the 16th of May after being unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, and frankly, we just can’t wait.

In honor of the The Great Gatsby, Harrods will be opening up a pop-up cocktail bar in lavish art-deco style and serving pours from the glitzy 1920’s. But there’s more, Benefit Cosmetics has also launched a new make-up collection in shades of nude, browns, and pinks all packaged  beautifully for Daisy Buchanan and her flapper friends.

We just love everything about starlet Carey Mulligan’s look for this movie, especially her eyebrows. They are bold, but soft at the same time, not over-plucked and yet perfectly arched. They are slightly darker then her golden hair (perhaps a little cinnamon spice eyebrow pencil at work?) and stand-out beautifully while not overshadowing her gorgeous complexion. Eyebrow Perfection!
