Textured Brow: Get the Look

Cool and contemporary, brush up your brows for a full and wild look with boyish charm. The brushed up brow is becoming more and more popular, especially with those who go for a slightly unkept look. Let us show you how to create it at home, in 3 easy steps:

Step 1. Brow Build

Apply Brow Build using the wand along the whole length of your brows, brushing up using short strokes. Use a back-combing motion to create even more volume and a fuller brow.

Step 2. Highlighter

Create a contouring effect by applying the Highlighter pencil to the brow bone under your eyebrows following your arch. Blend with the smudge sponge for a soft pearly finish.

Step 3. Brown Intense Kajal Pencil

Define your eyes by lightly drawing across the lash line of your eye-lids. Use the smudger at the other end of the Kajal pencil to soften and give your look an effortless finish.

Polished Brow: Get the Look

Glamorous and sleek, create bold brow definition for when red-carpet glamour is the only option. This look is perfect for the Christmas party season, and for those looking to create an impactful brow and eye look.

Achieve this look by following these 3 simple steps:

Step 1. Brow Sculpt
Softly apply Brow Sculpt with a precise and angled brush, creating smooth short strokes in the direction of hair growth. Gradually build-up the colour for a more defined and bold brow look.

Step 2. Black Intense Kajal Pencil
Define your eyes by drawing above the lash line of your eye-lids. Use the smudger at the other end of the Kajal pencil to create a sexy smokey eye effect.

Step 3. Drama Mascara
Give lashes depth, volume and gloss in one stroke with Drama Mascara. Glide the wand up from the lash line to build volume and length as desired. Apply only to the top lashes to open up the eye area.

Get Neelam’s LFW Look

Last night, our Brow Queen Neelam owned the catwalk at Ashish’s London Fashion Week SS17 show, opening and closing the vibrant display. The Delhi-born designer took inspiration from “Bollywood pop culture”, with beautifully embellished clothing and traditional Asian head-wear.

BUT, it was Neelams horizontal brows that we couldn’t get enough of. Create this look at home with just two of our easy-to-use bbrowbar products:

Step 1: bbrowbar Brow Definer

With an ultra precise nib and matte finish, our Brow Definer is the perfect colour product to achieve this look. Using short sharp strokes, build up colour in the front half of your eyebrow. When you reach the highest point of your arch, continue to draw a thin, straight line for approximately 1.5 centimeters. When you are happy with this length, apply slightly more product to create a triangular point. Don’t worry about being too precise at this stage! Leave the tail of your brow, completely make-up free.

Step 2: bbrowbar Brow Corrector

To achieve the defined point at the end of the brow, tidy up with our Brow Corrector. With a gentle Micellar Formula, the Corrector will enable you to neaten up for a sharp finish.

VMA’s 2016 Brow Awards

Last night, Madison Square Garden in New York was home to the 2016 MTV VMA’s, bringing with it a strong line-up of gorgeous beauty looks from the bold and sexy, to natural and subdued.

Take a look below to view our favourite brow looks. Stand by for #browenvy.

1. Hailee Steinfeld

With a natural, matte lip and pulled back hair, all eyes are on Hailee’s eyes and bold brows. Her natural graduated arch, becomes darker and more defined towards the tail end giving her a natural brow lift. Create a graduated brow by applying a Brow Definer with a thin, precise nib, pressing harder at the tail of the brow.

2. Stella Maxwell

Proof that brows don’t have to be dark to make an impact, Stella’s blonde brows are perfectly offset by her thick eye-liner. Her brushed-up straight arch is a trend we’re loving at the moment. Create brushed-up brows using a Brow Powder and brushing upwards using a Brow Tamer.

3. Justine Skye

Perfectly, symmetrical, Justine’s brows may just be twins! Her defined arch opens up her entire eye area. This definition is helped with the application of a Highlighter underneath the brow bone.

Met Gala 2016 our Beauty Picks

Last night, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York was home to one of our favourite events of the year, the Met Gala. Renowned for it’s often surprising celebrity make-overs, this year certainly didn’t disappoint. See below for our top 5 beauty looks from the night.

Met Gala Celebs

1. Katy Perry

Wearing a custom Prada gown featuring Tamagotchi’s(!), Katy Perry really embraced the ‘fashion in the age of technology’ theme. Never one to shy away from dressing up, Katy’s make-up was also a new look for her. With toned down, bleached brows, emphasis was on her blue eyeliner and bold mascara. With a huge trend towards bleached brows, Katy is leading the brow fash pack. A dark, black lip and striking up-do finished her futuristic look perfectly.

2. Kristen Stewart

In a beaded, leather Chanel dress, Kristen Stewart shone on last night’s red carpet. With her bleach blonde hair thrown in to a messy up-do, full focus was on her creative eye make-up. Teaming a metallic silver eye shadow with beautifully shaped bold brows, Kristen gained some serious ‘cool’ points. Her straight arch is a shape we’re getting more and more requests for, so look out for this as an upcoming brow trend this season.

3. Amber Heard

The actress wore a Ralph Lauren Collection custom wrap evening dress in a neutral champagne shade. Amber’s make-up added a gorgeous pop of colour with a deep red lip and golden, shimmering eye. With a low-key but perfectly shaped eyebrow, she was every inch the natural beauty.

4. Amandla Stenberg

Rocking a custom Calvin Klein Collection suit, Amandla Stenberg was all about the eyebrows. With natural face and eye make-up, Amandla’ eyebrows stole the show. With an on-trend low arch, her brows were thick and defined – we approve!

5. Blake Lively

The Met Gala was Blake’s first appearance since announcing her pregnancy, and WOW, she was looking radiant! In a beautiful Burberry gown, Blake’s hair and make-up was simple and understated. With her hair pinned back, Blake’s natural eyes and red lip popped. We’ve always been fans of Blake’s natural brow arch. The shade perfectly matches her gorgeous blonde hair, and her low arch compliments her soft facial features.

Define and Contour

We’ve all spent the last 6 months watching videos and attempting to champion the perfect face contour; but what about contouring the most important feature on your face, your brow arch?

We’re going to tell you how, in 3 easy steps, to achieve the perfect arch contour to open up your eyes and frame your face. Listen up!

Step 1: Take your favourite brow colour product such as a Brow Pencil, Definer or Pen and apply as you usually would, light strokes in the direction of hair growth to build up natural colour and fill in gaps.

Step 2: Featuring an all natural Micellar formula, the bbrowbar Brow Corrector will enable you to shape the perfect arch. After applying your colour product, use the defined tip to tidy up any mistakes or smudges and to create a perfectly precise brow.

Step 3: Use the bbrowbar Highlighter to accentuate your arch and define your brow. Apply the creamy, chubby pencil underneath your brow bone in gentle strokes. Using the sponge at the other end of the pencil, blend the colour to create a subtle glow.

New Treatment Alert!

This season, we’re so excited to bring you a brand new colour palette of brow tints, offering a much greater shade selection than ever before…

Brows are a natural extension of hair, therefore matching hair and brow colour is essential but can sometimes be tricky. Our new palette offers an array of shades to perfectly match any hair colour, whether platinum blonde, fiery red, ash brown or jet black.

The extensive shade range, based on eleven rich and luxurious core colours, now makes it possible for us to match any hair colour. Our therapists can work the tint and shift the colour at specific areas of the brow for different effects such as adding more depth to the colour and look, changing the brow shape or effortlessly transforming the arches for diverse looks – from delicate and light to classic, pretty to edgy.

The new tints also enable us to be playful, experimenting with colours such as red, blue and purple!

The new tints will launch exclusively with Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge at an exclusive event on 23rd March, and will be available in all blinkbrowbar locations from mid-April.

Tinting but not as you know it!

When it comes to tinting your eyebrows, we’re usually advised to go one or two shades darker than the hair on our heads to add definition and depth, whilst maintaining your natural colouring.

However, we’re here to throw that rule out of the window! From observing the latest catwalk and red carpet trends, we’ve noticed a real movement towards brightly coloured and bleached brows.

Matching your eyebrows to your eye-shadow, or using contrasting shades has been a trend on the catwalks and on many a Pinterest board for the last season, with models and bloggers alike jumping on the bandwagon.

Wanna give it a try? Stand by for an exciting update from blinkbrowbar very soon…

Brit Brows wow at the Grammy Awards

Last night was the turn of the biggest names in the world of music to dust off their gowns and hit the red carpet for the 2016 Grammy Awards. With world class performances (albeit with a few technical hitches) from Adele, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga to name a few, the ceremony was a night to remember.

Adele and Ellie

She may not have been up for any nominations, but Adele was one of our winners on the red carpet. Dressed in a floor-length Givency gown with a nipped-in waist, and rocking a freshly cut bob, she looked every inch the popstar. With a nude lip and dewy skin, Adele’s make up was all about those eyes, with perfectly winged black eye-liner and a bold brow. Create Adele’s bold brow look here:

Step 1: Using the bbrowbar Brow Powder, apply starting at the middle of your arch and out towards the tail-end of the brow. Use soft strokes in the direction of the brow growth and then finish at the front using short upward strokes to give brows a defined silhouette. Continue to build up colour for a bolder and more dramatic look.

Step 2: Brush the Brow Powder all the way through your brows, coating every hair using the bbrowbar Brow Tamer.

Step 3: Finish and set with the bbrowbar Brow Gel to add gloss, shine and to prevent those hairs from moving all night.

Adele close up

The second Brit to hit our style radar was Ellie Goulding. Dressed in a nude Stella McCartney gown with silver embellishments, the singer looked elegant. Much like Adele, Ellie’s make up was understated, with a subtle smokey eye and natural looking brows with a high arch. Find out how to create Ellie’s natural look here >

Step 1: Using soft, short sharp strokes gradually fill in and build up your eyebrow shape using the bbrowbar Brow Definer. If you struggle to create a symmetrical shape, or want to create a high arch like Ellie’s, try the bbrowbar Brow Silhouettes as a guide.

Step 2: To create Ellie’s natural smokey eye, gently hold the eye taught and lightly draw the bbrowbar Brown Kajal pencil on the lash line and water line. Use the smudger at the other end of the pencil to soften and give your look a worn-in finish.

BAFTA 2016: Beauty on the Red Carpet

Last night, Hollywood’s finest celebrated the 2016 EE BAFTA Awards at London’s Royal Opera House, and the red carpet did not disappoint! Here are our pick of the ceremonies best make-up looks:

Nominated for her role in Brooklyn, Saoirse Ronan dazzled in a heavily decorated Burberry gown and statement necklace. With her hair loosely pulled back, Saoirse’s make-up is all about her eyes, with a subtle feline flick and bold brushed up brows (possibly our brow pick of the night!).

Kate Winslet won Best Supporting Actress for her role on Steve Jobs and wowed in a classic LBD. Her light blonde hair contrasts perfectly with her dark brows and bold red lip for classic red carpet glamour.

Rooney Mara‘s pretty matte skin and nude lip worked perfectly with her slick back hair and dark eyebrows. Wearing a beautifully detailed, crochet dress she looked wonderfully elegant and every inch the movie star.

Emilia Clarke‘s on-trend bob was soft and and perfectly tousled. Emilia stuck to natural make-up with a pinky lip and peach blush. Her darker brows created definition to her eye area, completing the look beautifully.

Dress it Up: Party Season Picks

It’s the season of the party dress – but which style is going to work for you and your big festive bash? We discovered that Miss Selfridge has the ultimate collection of on-point going out dresses – and we’re confident that your dream dress is among them…

Work Party
A work Christmas party calls for a certain level of chic that strikes the balance between party and professional and a midi dress ticks all the boxes; they’re elegant, classic, and super flattering. A figure hugging fit in a midi length is sultry, but not OTT sexy, and there’s a style for every body shape. Swapping your courts for barely there strappy sandals will transform your look instantly – from desk to dancefloor!
A prom style dress is always super-flattering, and gives amazing waist definition (even after that office team meal!). They’re a more feminine, classic take on the midi dress, so keep it edgy with a messy ‘do and a smoky eye.

Image 1

Girls’ Night Out
Nothing beats a night out with the girls, and getting ready is half the fun, right? Bodycon is still one of the season’s hottest party dresses; and we’re loving the Miss Selfridge edit, featuring bardot necklines, off the shoulder detailing, high necks and cool cut-outs. The 90s trend is also referenced with spaghetti straps, cowl necks, and slinky fabric – and don’t forget to accessorise! We’re obsessed with faux fur stoles to layer up your look, and a fistful of sparkly rings will be the envy of all your BFFs…

Image 2

Christmas Day
On the big day, embrace the festive atmosphere, but don’t forget the feast that lays ahead – this might be a good time to rest your bodycon numbers!
If your family style is a little more relaxed, upgrade your fave day dress by layering a colour block roll neck or an embellished bell sleeve blouse underneath. However, if only the best is good enough, a little black dress is always the answer. A swing style is cute, easy to wear, and forgiving after your second helping of Christmas pudding! Make your xmas day #ootd even more special with interesting detailing – a lace overlay updates a more relaxed shape, and a long line necklace will add some festive sparkle.

Image 3

New Years Eve
For the biggest night of the year, it’s got to be all out red carpet style glitz. Opt for a sequined dress with lashings of embellishment, with detailing and beading that will get you showered in compliments and sparkling on the dancefloor all night long! Shorter dresses gives opulence a modern edge, but c’mon – a maxi is the only option for out and out glamour! Throw on one of these beauties and see in the new year in serious style.

Follow your natural arch and remove only a few stray hairs from the fuller area of your brow – be careful not to get carried away!

Step 2: SET

First, apply our creamy Highlighter to give the eyes an instant lift by accentuating the arch and defining brows. Apply to the brow bone under your eyebrows following the arch. Blend with the smudge sponge for a soft pearly finish, or layer the applications to intensify the pearly effect. This immediately creates a contouring effect and defines the eye area.

The final step is to apply our award winning Brow Gel. Start at the middle point of the brow and brush in the direction of the hair growth towards the tail end. To manipulate and accentuate the shape, brush up at the front of the brow and arch for a bolder, fuller finish. bbrowbar Brow Gel is the ultimate grooming tool for defined and strong eyebrows that keep their shape all day.

Welcome Imbibery

We’re excited to announce that green juice royalty, Imbibery London is now available to buy at blinkbrowbar, Notting Hill.

Imbibery London is the result of two best friends, Lily and Meryl who met at university in the U.S. and moved from New York City to London, where they longed for accessible cold-pressed juices. After many European adventures and the subsequent need to detox, the girls decided that if the only way to get a cold-pressed juice—without committing to a full cleanse—was to make it themselves, then that’s what they would do!

We will be stocking their bestselling green juice, Greeña Colada. The juice contains cold-pressed spinach, pineapple and coconut water. We all know that spinach is the ultimate superfood and that its benefits are endless from stronger bones to a glowing complexion. Pineapple will boost your energy levels and the coconut water is incredibly hydrating.

Whilst some people will be out shopping for devil horns, or perhaps a long dark cape, we know that Halloween is all about the make-up!

Halloween provides the perfect excuse to go braver and bolder so we’re going to show you how to create a flawless smokey-eye that will transform you in to a glamorous ghoul.

Group Looks

If you’re going to be dancing until dawn, you need to ensure that your smokey eye can go the distance! Learn how below.

STEP 1: With its long lasting creamy formula, our bbrowbar Highlighter doubles up as a perfect base. Apply the chubby pencil across the entire eye lid, using the smudge sponge to blend.

STEP 2: Reach for our bbrowbar Black Kajal Pencil and apply a thick stroke along the lash line on both your lower and upper eye lid. Use the sponge applicator to blend and soften the colour.

STEP 3: Although originally designed to thicken brows, bbrowbar Brow Powder works perfectly as a dramatic eyeshadow. Using our Brow Powder (in Cardamom Pod shade), you can now build on the frame you have created with the Kajal pencil. Tap away any excess powder from the sponge applicator and gently apply to the eye-lid, starting at the inside corner of the eye. Use soft strokes to slowly build colour and create your desired shape.

STEP 4: Now you’re ready to add drama with a pair of bbrowbar Strip Lashes. Use a pair of nail scissors to trim the lashes to the size of your lids, then carefully apply the eyelash glue waiting for it to become tacky. Using one hand to hold down your eyelid, use the other hand to gently press the strip to the base of your lashes. Use tweezers to help nudge the strip in to place.

Top Tip: Once the lashes are holding properly you can reapply a stroke of Kajal Pencil along the line of the strip lashes.

STEP 5: You can add more depth to your makeup by contouring your lips with bbrowbar Black Kajal Pencil. Apply a red lipstick first, then draw a line with the Kajal Pencil. Using a brush, blend the black shade into the red lipstick.

LFW proves Bold Brows are here to stay

Strong brow game dominated the catwalks at NYFW and LFW last month.
Makeup artists from Christopher Kane, Burberry and Paul Smith all embraced the bold brow look, proving that it’s here to stay! Yay!

STEP 1: Use a brow tamer to brush hairs upwards in the same direction as hair growth.

STEP 2: Use a brow pen, the same shade as your natural hair colour to fill in any gaps or sparse areas. Light, short strokes can be used for a natural brow, or push harder to create greater impact.

STEP 3: Reach for that brow tamer again, and this time use to blend the colour and groom hairs back in to place.

STEP 4: Finish with a highlighter pencil to lift and illuminate your brow arch. Apply to the brow bone, following your natural arch to define the eye area. Then blend using the smudge sponge for a soft finish.

EMMY Awards 2015: Top Beauty Looks

Arguably the biggest night in the television calendar, last night’s Emmy awards were awash with style and sophistication. The red carpet was on fire (and not just because of the scorching LA heat), see below for our top 3 beauty looks from the show.

Scream Queen’s Emma Roberts made a bold statement, contrasting her peroxide blonde hair with dark brows. The contrast of light and dark provides her delicate face with a high-impact frame.

Scandal’s Kerry Washington looked every part the leading lady. With her hair swept into a faux bob, and a very natural low-arch brow, it was her smoky eye and long glossy lashes that stole the show.

Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland used her bold brows to perfectly frame a metallic smoky eye. All complimented by a chic and soft wavy bob.

Get The Look- Ruby Rose

Going into season three of Orange Is the New Black—available for binge watching on Netflix now—we knew little about the new inmate shaking things up at Litchfield. But after some serious googling, we’ve found that Stella Carlin is not all that different from the striking real-life beauty who plays her. Ruby Rose, like Carlin hails from Australia, sports an androgynous look, and is completely comfortable and confident in her own tattoo-covered skin. Recently interviewed by our friends over at Net-a-Porter, Rose states that her beauty look is ‘A strong brow, a neutral lip and contouring makeup’.

We love her androgynous style, contrasted with her classically beautiful looks it’s not surprise that the 29 year first cut her teeth on the media bone as a model. Although she says that she got rejected for being ‘too edgy’ to star in campaigns for the main stream bookings “I wanted to be something,” says Rose, “to prove to the girls in high school, and to prove to my mum and dad, that I could be really…spectacular.”

With a hand in acting, modeling, designing, and DJ’ing, this multi-tasking chick isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and we already think that this beauty has made a spectacular entrance.

Get The Look:

Rose’s beauty look proves that if you’ve got a fringe/bangs, then groomed brows still have their place in framing your face. Here’s how to create her thick, boyish brows:

1. Prep brows and brush through with a Tamer to ensure that you have a smooth, clean and groomed canvas.

2. Starting at the middle point of your brow, tapping off any excess, apply bbrowbar Brow Powder in the colour of your choice– We like to go darker for this look to add a punchy edge. Use light short strokes in the direction of your hair growth and fill in and thicken the arch with the powder ending at the tail of the brow. Finish with a few strokes at the front of the brow but make sure you go light on the application here, otherwise you’ll end up with a painted on look.

Watch the how to video, below:

3. If you prefer a sharper tail end, then define the edges with bbrowbar Brow Pen.

4. Set and brush through with bbrowbar Brow Gel in either coloured for an intense finish, or clear if your brows already own a dark tone.

Meanwhile, Amanda Seyfried was fresh from the matinee performance from The Way We Get By and went for a low key chignon and smokey eyes. Shimmering nude make up seemed to be the order of the day with bold, natural eyebrows groomed and teased into a natural shape and held in place with texturising gel. Advocates included Constance Jablonski and Kendall Jenner who made the most of an early summer’s golden glow.

Get The Look- Lily Collins

In a new beauty shoot for Glamour Magazine, Lily Collins looked stunning as she modelled a diverse range of beauty looks. The British beauty spoke about how she’s learnt to embrace her quirks as her beauty mark.

“When I was younger and moved from England to LA, it was all about being tanned and having thin eyebrows, and I wanted to fit in,’ she says.”

“I was self-conscious about my big brows and I remember taking tweezers and thinning them out. My mum was like, “What did you do?” She was scared they wouldn’t grow back and said, “The quirky things that make you different are what make you beautiful.”

‘That’s when I stopped being self-conscious.’

The actress now leaves her trademark brows well alone, confessing she hardly every breaks out the tweezers anymore.

We love this girl. And her brows!

The Best Coachella Celebrity Beauty Looks

As the start of festival season is marked by the opening of Coachella 2015, Blink review our all time favourite celebrity beauty looks showcased at ‘The Valley’ festival.

Vanessa Hudgens is pretty much Coachella royalty. Never failing to roll out a highly coveted festival accessory or beauty look, each year we look to V.H as one of our favourite ‘festpirations. last year’s bold and defined brows were adorned with gorgeously hippie-chic gems. We’d wear these everyday if we could. Might be a bit OTT though..

Our gal; Brit-babe Alexa Chung never fails to make us wish we had her wardrobe, figure and face. The naturally beautiful style-icon goes against the grain of the sun-kissed babes that frequent the festival, keeping her flawless complexion seemingly au natural with just a slick of mascara and a rosy cheek to highlight.

We LOVED Zoe Kravitz’ blonde choppy bob from last year’s festival. With naturally tan skin, this honey blonde is not an easy look to pull-off but the lightened brows stop this look from looking trashy and keep it premium.

Victoria’s Secret angel, Alessandra Ambrosio’s nails were on point last year. The model opted for some festival-themed intricate nail-art, adorning her talons with palm trees and ferris wheels in homage to the Californian festival. Nothing like a good mani to keep you looking festi-fresh. However many bottles of dry shampoo you’ve gotten through.

Not a stranger to the Blink Brow Bar blog, Kate Bosworth owns that sort of beauty that you can’t quite put your finger on in terms of what makes her so stunning. She just is. That, and a fabulously threaded and groomed set of eyebrows. If you’re hitting the festival rota this Spring/Summer, make sure you’re groomed from tip to toe. Prepping will have you looking effortlessly put together. Now it’s just a case of how long you take on packing your festival wardrobe.

And the juries out on this one.. The Chanel muse does pull it off, but not sure we’d accessorise our everyday look with a nose ring THIS big?! What do you think?
