We have been wanting to visit the “So Dior” exhibit at Harrods since it opened last month, and this week we finally made it.
The fourth floor of the department store has been completely transformed into a world of Dior, complete with a giant lady Dior handbag, video installations featuring the designer in his original atelier, and actual gowns worn by Marion Cotillard, Audrey Hepburn, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson. There’s also a beautifully designed Dior Café which serves lunch, tea, and of course Dior cupcakes.
The exhibit shows the unique relationship that Christian Dior had with the United Kingdom, and particularly his love of Harrods, so it is fitting that the massive exhibit is taking place at this famous Brompton Road department store.
There is also a special focus on the Dior perfumes including Miss Dior, the first ever fragrance created in 1947, and J’adore with a special focus on the gowns worn by Charlize Theron in the television adverts.
Our favourite part was the recreation of 40 of Dior Haute Couture’s silhouettes in miniature from, which traces the history of the iconic fashion label from when it began on Avenue Montaigne.
The Dior takeover will only run until April 14th, so make sure you visit soon.
